Pre-Defined Security Groups

Each employee entered into the database must be assigned a security group giving that employee access to all or selected parts of the software's components.

 

The software has 5 pre-defined (built-in) security groups designed to meet typical user scenarios. These pre-defined security groups cannot be deleted or modified. If the 5 pre-defined security groups do not meet your needs, you can create new Security Groups and enable/disable access to fit your requirements.

 

The 5 pre-defined security groups are:

 

  • Administrator: Users assigned to this security group have access to all areas in the software.

    • Manager: Users have access to projects, tasks, assignments, reports, budgets and other areas required to manage projects.

      • Team Lead: Users have access to the views used to create projects, tasks, assignments, approve time, etc.

        • Time and Expense entry: Users only have access to the time and expense entry tools and are only able to view their own entries. Information relating to time rates or time costs is not displayed. Access is also denied to all Administrative functions.

    • Auditor: Users can only view and print reports in the Administrative area. All other views and tools are inaccessible.

       

Note: The use of Limited Access further enhances security by limiting what data/information is available to users when they are in the Administrative views and tools permitted by their security group.

 

The following table presents a simplified overview of 'access' to views and tools for each of the pre-defined security groups. Detailed access, read/modify/delete settings for each security group are available in the Security Permissions report.
